About Me

Hey Wellness Warriors!

I’m Elyse (or Lizzie) and this is the place where I like to share my excitement and ideas on fitness and food ❤

I am a chemical engineer working as a technical sales rep but have a MEGA passion for health and fitness! I am new to a plant-based diet but a long time healthy eater. I am in the best shape of my life but a long time fitness ninja!

I became an engineer because math came easy, but also because engineering as a degree was not. Such a challenge had my name written all over it. I loved problem solving and the feeling of “figuring it out”. It was stimulating, rewarding, and I met some of my BEST friends!

This is also how I feel about my wellness journey. I am always challenging myself to be the vest version of ME and there is nothing more rewarding than seeing the results of your hard word (abs, tasty meals, energy!, etc.)

As stated, I choose to follow a plant-based diet, focusing mostly on whole foods and eliminating gluten as much as possible. I am a serious (dark) chocoholic and I don’t deny myself a treat when I want one. I am totally into to jucing and green smoothies but I enjoy the occasional (alcoholic) drink with friends, especially during the summer or the holidays. My eating habits have evolved significantly over the past few years and the knowledge I’ve gained about food in general makes me cringe at my former self, thinking Kraft cheese slices were a diet staple because they were fat-free… oh MY!

I like to workout 5-6 times per week, incorporating strength training, high impact conditioning, moderate cardio and hot yoga. I also try to be active outdoors whenever possible. I’ll take any excuse to fit in a little extra fitness while soaking in some vitamin D!

Plant-based eating is my latest challenge and it’s been changing me from the inside out; physically, mentally and emotionally. I think it’s the icing on the (vegan) cake to my creating this blog. Luckily I have the most amazing guy supporting me through everything I do!

I can’t imagine finding someone more supportive of all of my crazy plans and ideas. We’ve been together 3 years now and he’s been with me throughout the most transitional part of my life. I think it’s safe to say he’s in it for the long haul… as long as I’m cooking the tofu 😉

So I’m glad you’re here and I hope you’ll join me on my wellness journey… plant-based or not, fitness crazed or not! Join me for the love of all that is food and fitness. I will be posting recipes and workouts while sharing the knowledge I’ve gained and continue to acquire. I love to inspire people to be the best version of themselves and to be inspired by their stories in return 🙂

  3. Hey there Lizzie! You started following my blog so I wanted to check out your blog and say, “Hi!” I just love your about page, it oozes with enthusiasm! I can tell you’re enjoying life chica. And we’ve got so much in common. I’ve been vegan for a year and a half and recently cut gluten from my diet. I’m also into fitness and have recently got back into weight training. Math, unfortunately, doesn’t come easy to me – I’m more of a writer. Anyway, I’m so glad to e-meet you and look forward to getting to know you better! Celeste 🙂

    • Hi Celeste!
You’re blog title was so catchy I couldn’t resists the follow. Its lovely to e-meet you as well and I am looking forward to reading about your vegan transition. I read your about pages and I agree that veganism is a lifestyle, not just a diet. I’m doing well with veganizing my home and my health & beauty routine but still have a long way to go in other areas of my life. It takes time and none of us are perfect but I think people like us are doing the best we can and we are so lucky to have such a supportive e-community! Honk honk 🙂

  4. Wow, you’re pretty amazing! Chemical engineering is no joke. My man works in combustion and he has a Phd in Chemistry and a Masters in ME. I’m in the medical field so it’s over my head but I see the papers he reads and they are insanely complicated.

I’m a vegetarian but I like to eat vegan sometimes too. I look forward to following your journey with veganism! 🙂

    • Thank you (blushes!) Your husband sounds like quite the guy. I work in technical sales in the pulp and paper industry and it’s totally different than anything I ever imagined myself doing as a little girl.

I found your blog through Pinterest where those cinnamon rolls reeled me in. It something I haven’t had in ages! Happy to have you along for the ride and looking forward to more recipes from you 🙂

  5. Totally aweome and inspired blog you have here. I’m surprised it took me so long to discover this little piece of vegan heaven. Keep up the good work.

  6. I have 2 favourite blogs that I follow religiously.
    125.msn.ca and carrotsncake.com.
My friend Karla and I are pretty obsessed with reading blogs / searching for new favourites. We’ve yet to find one we can add to our daily reading list.

Thank you for giving me a new daily read, Lizzy.
Your blog is phenomenal. So inspirational.

I’m currently in Halifax but when I get back to Newfoundland, I’m making a stop at Costco for a new JUICER!! So excited to take your word and go for it!

I look forward to following your blog.

    • Hey Victoria!

I used to read Carrots N Cake from time to time but I may take your recommendation and add her to my daily read 🙂

You’ll have to post about the juicer/juicing when you get back to NL. Can’t wait to hear about it.

Looking forward to reading more from you as well. Thanks for stopping by 🙂
